Amanda Deadman

BA (Hons)

Amanda is passionate about all things creative and studied art, photography, ceramics, textiles, and design from an early age. She studied at West Surrey College of Art and Design gaining a BA Hons degree in 3D Design and Photography.

She is a practicing artist and photographer specialising in animal portraiture, and lives in Kirtlington, a North Oxfordshire village on the Eastern edge of the Cotswolds.

One of her passions is horses and her love for them as a subject and as recreation has been a constant since childhood. As a member of The Society of Equestrian Artists she has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London.

She spends lots of time photographing the exhilarating speed and agility of horses to enable her to create drawings and paintings showing their movement and structure.

She creates drawings in pencil and pastel pencils, and paintings in acrylic on canvas and watercolour; she has taught watercolours to adults at beginner stage; has run ceramics club at an independent school in Buckinghamshire, and managed a contemporary art gallery in Covent Garden, London.

Type/Style of Work: Decorative/naturalistic

Indigenous butterflies and moths of the Cotswolds. Coloured and gold butterflies on a black background.

I love the countryside, especially the Cotswolds, so the two AONB projects “Caring for the Cotswolds” and “Glorious Cotswold Grasslands” that will benefit from this year’s Hare Trail fund raising are particularly close to myheart.

The Cotswold Hare Trail is a fantastic way to encourage people to visit and appreciate this beautiful area by creating an exciting treasure hunt like experience visiting all the different hare locations.

As an artist there is nothing that pleases more than having people appreciate your creations so being part of this group creation that brings so much pleasure is something I love being a part of.
