About the Hare

We live and work in the heart of the Cotswolds and see amazing people every day around the city. We live and work in the heart of the Cotswolds and see amazing people every day around the city. We wanted to translate this passion and theme onto our hares and create a couple of hipster hares that show how fashion and musical influence can create a modern costwoldian. We took the idea of a traditional Cotswold look with the tweed and the brogues and gave our male hare and contemporary look with tattoos and ofcourse the signature hipster beard. We wanted to give both our hares a personality and make them real characters that people looking at them can be interested in. Our female hare is vintage and inspired by the events, markets, car shows and music that has become popular again. The idea of looking around the flea markets and junk shops of the Cotswold towns and finding that little bit of vintage was our main thought. We wanted people to look at her and a feeling of nostalgia be evoked (no matter what your age). The hares are designed as a couple (his and hers hipster hares) but to us they represent the warm and alternative side of the Cotswolds with just a hint of tradition.

I work with Rob Crebbin. We are both practicing commercial graphic designers that live and work in the Cotswolds. Alongside our design work of logo, web and design for print we teach graphic design to a range of students at Gloucestershire College. We both have differing styles of design that include Robs style which is mixed-media using Photoshop techniques and traditional media to create his unique personal style. Jess has vector doodle based style that she applies to textiles and commercial graphics work and more recently Jess has been experimenting with mixed-media techniques and mark making. We are influenced by a broad range of disciplines from photography, music and film to typography and tattoos. We both have qualifications in teaching and graphic design and have been passionate about continuing to develop our skills through Rob learning motion graphics and experimenting with this and Jess doing her city and guilds in dark room photography. All of these creative influences have a huge impact on our styles of design and keep our modern. We wanted to get involved involved in the Hare trail as it was a totally different medium for us to work on. The 3d element represents a challenge in its self to us as we are traditionally computer based. Translating the brief has inspired us.
