Blue Bloom

About the Hare

Looking past the obvious and focusing on the process of abstraction, the design of
the springer goes beyond traditional botanical Art.
A blue flower is an enduring motif in Western art and symbolizes hope and the
beauty of things.
I did not try to copy the living beauty of nature but express the beauty of botanical life
as I perceive it from a painters perspective. Strong organic shapes, structures and
patterns combined with harmonic colour choices and there you have it: Beautiful Blue
Bloom.

I am an expressive contemporary oil painter, living and working in Kelmscott by the
river Thames. My technical focus is on expressive mark making, colour and glazing
in a contemporary manner.
Following my diploma in Oil Painting at the Norfolk Painting School under Martin
Kinnear my personal work has further evolved by studying the work and techniques
of the great masters of each era integrating them into my paintings in a contemporary
way to create unique pieces of work.
My studio is located opposite St George’s Church in the picturesque village of
Kelmscott, well known for Kelmscott Manor, which was William Morris’s summer
residence, leader of the Arts and Crafts movement – a place he considered ‘a
Heaven on Earth’…
I teach traditional and contemporary oil painting courses for individuals and groups
here in the Cotswolds.
